History Sites we think are interesting

We will add more sites that we have linked to as time goes along.
Chautauqua Co Historical Museums and sites of interest   This is a great site with many historical links on line for local history.

The Antique Boat Museum of Clayton NY-  They have the largest collection of antique and classic boats on display in North America.  If you want to see craftsmanship you need to see antique wooden boats. Over twenty steamboat owners put on a floatilla last year at Clayton. These steamboats are similar to Findley Lakes steamboats at the turn of the century.

https://www.thelawsoncenter.org   A very interesting site especially if you are interested in Chris Craft boats.  Usually a restoration is in progress.

Busti Gristmill . -This would make a great day trip this summer. On the third Sunday of each month  from 1-4pm you can see the mill running and grinding grain. You can look at all the pictures of a water powered mill but until you feel the floors shake and hear the sound of the mill running you can not get the feel of the real  old time mill.  This was a three turbine mill at one time.  May is their Apple Blossom Day and the mill will not be running. If you want to get involved in any of the activities call 483-3670.  What a great bunch of people.
The Tapestry- Today's news is tomorrow's history
The Farmers Museum in Cooperstown, N.Y. - Great place to visit with the family.
Genesee County Village and  Museum- Great place to visit on a 2 day trip. Kids are free in 2015 Many active exhibits of a by-gone era-make hotel reservations in advance is our suggestion
East Branch Book Store- Great used book store filled with slightly used to rare books in Sherman,NY
